It was missing a piece. 한 조각을 잃어버려 이가 빠진 동그라미
So it set off in search of its missing piece. 잃어버린 조각을 찾아 길을 떠나네.
And as it rolled it sang this song- 데굴데굴 굴러가며 부르는 노래
"Oh I'm lookin' for my missin' piece 어디에 있을까 나의 한 조각은
Sometimes it baked in the sun 어느 날은 뜨거운 햇살아래 헉헉대다가
but then the cool rain would come down. 시원한 소나기로 더위를 씻고
And sometimes it was frozen by the snow 어떤 날은 눈에 꽁꽁 얼었다가
And because it was missing a piece
한 조각을 잃어버려 이가 빠진 동그라미
or smell a flower 꽃을 만나면 향기도 맡네. and sometimes it would pass 어떤 때는 풍뎅이를 앞질러 가고
and sometimes the beetle would pass it 어떤 때는 풍뎅이가 앞질러 가는
' and this was the best time of all. 나비를 동무 삼는 꿈같이 행복한 나날이라네. .
And on it went, over oceans 때로는 바다를 가로질러 건너가기도 하며 노래부르네
"Oh I'm lookin' for· my missin' piece "오! 잃어버린 조각을 찾으러 가네.
through swamps and jungles up mountains 갈대 숲과 정글을 지나 비탈진 산길을 힘겹게 오르기도 하고
and down mountains 데굴데굴 굴러서 산을 내려오기도 하네.
Until one day, lo and behold! 그러던 어느 날 드디어 작은 한 조각을 발견했네.
"I've found my missin' piece," 이 빠진 동그라미 신이 나서 부르는 노래
"Wait a minute," said the pie 하지만 작은 한 조각이 말하기를.
"I am not your missing piece. "난 당신의 잃어버린 조각이 아니예요.
"Oh," it said sadly, "공연히 성가시게 굴어 미안합니다."
It found another piece 또 다른 한 조각을 만났으나
but this one was too small. 그건 너무 작아서 헐렁하고
And this one was too big 어떤 조각은 너무 커서 맞지않고
this one was a little too sharp 또 다른 한 조각은 너무 날카롭고
and this one was too square. 어떤 것은 네모가 져서 맞지를 않았습니다.
One time it seemed to have found the perfect piece 그러다가 한번은 몸에 맞은 한 조각을 찾은 듯 했으나
but it didn't hold it tightly enough 떨어지지 않게 꼭 맞는 것은 아니라서
and lost it. 언덕을 오르다가 잃어 버렸네.
Another time it held too tightly 어떤 것은 지나치게 꽉 끼어
and it broke. 부서져 버렸네.
So on and on it rolled, 이빠진 동그라미는 데굴데굴 구르며 여행을 계속했습니다.
having adventures 때로는 뜻하지 않은 이상한 사건도 겪으면서
falling into holes 구덩이에 빠져 허우적 거리기도 하고
and bumping into stone walls. 돌담에 부딪혀 코가 깨지기도 하였습니다.
And then one day it came upon another piece that seemed to be just right. 그러던 어느 날 꼭 맞을 듯한 한 조각을 또 만났습니다.
"Hi," it said. "Hummm?" "안녕?"하고 동그라미가 인사하니 "글쎄......."
It fit! 잘 맞는것 같아. 응, 아주 잘 맞아. 꼭 맞았네! 정말 꼭 맞는걸!
And away it rolled and because it was now complete, 잃어버린 한 조각을 찾은 동그라미는
So fast that it could not stop 너무 빨리 달리게 된 동그라미는 벌레를 만나도 멈춰서 이야기할 수 없었고 꽃을 만나도 향기를 맡을 수 없고
too fast for a butterfly to land. 나비와 함께 놀 수도 없었습니다.
But it could sing its happy song, 그러나 아주 행복한 노래는
And it began to sing - 동그라미는 노래를 불렀습니다.
Oh my, now that it was complete it could not sing at all 이런! 세상에! 이제 입이 열리지 않아 노래를 부를 수 없었습니다. "Aha," it thought. "으음." 동그라미는 생각했습니다.
So it stopped rolling‥‥ 동그라미는 구르기를 멈췄습니다.
and it et the peice down gently, 그리고 찾았던 작은 조각을 가만히 내려 놓았습니다.
and slowly rolled away 그리고 천천히 다시 굴러갔습니다.
and as it rolled it softly sang - 다시 한 조각을 잃어버린 동그라미 그러나 즐겁게 노래 부르며 굴러갑니다.
